Dear All,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I am doing well and navigating life’s path with a grateful heart, embracing all the opportunities and challenges that come my way.

Much has happened over the past few years, and I apologize for not being able to update you more frequently. As many of you know, after completing my higher education, I chose to dedicate my time to Sikkim Himalayan Academy. It felt right to return and contribute to the place that laid the foundation for my life. Over the years at SHA, I had the privilege to teach and also take part in the administrative functioning of the school. This included handling government documentation and representing the school in various meetings organized by the education department. I met incredible individuals from across the country and learned immensely from those interactions. Alongside my responsibilities at SHA, I also worked part-time with Genius Sports Company as a sports statistician, covering numerous football matches in Sikkim. Despite juggling multiple responsibilities and family commitments, I continued to pursue my dream of becoming a government teacher by appearing for several recruitment exams. I’m happy to share that I qualified in one of them and have recently been appointed as a Graduate Teacher (GT) in Arts under the Government of Sikkim.

Last week, I joined Milling Secondary School in West Sikkim. Though it is located in a remote area, I am thoroughly enjoying my new role and have already begun teaching classes. Unfortunately, the announcement of the merit list coincided with the timing of my planned trip to the UK to visit my sponsors. I had prepared all the necessary documents and passport for the visa process, but with this new opportunity, I won’t be able to travel as planned. While I was initially disheartened, my sponsors expressed joy and support for my achievement and decision. Though the initial salary is modest, I am hopeful that once I become a regular teacher, the benefits and pay will improve. I believe the journey that began at Sikkim Himalayan Academy and took me through Dr. Graham’s Homes, Sikkim University, and Andhra Pradesh for professional studies, has shaped me to be the teacher I am today. I am committed to sharing all I have learned with my students, both academically and personally. Now, more than ever, I feel ready to give back to society and support others on their path. I owe this purpose and success to your vision, without your dream of Sikkim Himalayan Academy, my dreams may never have seen the light of day. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in us, for your continued guidance and support, and for turning so many lives, including mine, toward a brighter future. My sponsors have never made me feel the absence of my parents. They indeed have been my greatest support.

I also want to share a deeply personal moment, when I informed my family about my selection as a government school teacher, they were overwhelmed with emotion. They burst into tears, filled with pride and joy. I am now the first member in our entire family tree to be employed in the government sector, and this achievement means the world to us. None of this would have been possible without your support, encouragement, and the dream that was Sikkim Himalayan Academy. Thank you once again, from the depths of my heart, for impacting my life so profoundly and for helping make my journey so beautiful.

With love, prayers, and deepest gratitude,

Nedup

Mail van Pem diki aan Jannie, april 2025

Dear Ma'am,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I am doing well too.

I am back at college, and our classes started on 23.04.2025. Now that we are the seniors, it feels a little strange — it seems like just yesterday I began my college journey!

I am truly thankful to all my sponsors for supporting me, helping me with my studies, and contributing to a better future for me. I will always remain grateful to everyone.

Ma'am, our second-year results have also been announced, and I scored 75%.

I will do even better in the coming days."

Thank you once again for your continuous support and encouragement.

With love and warm regards

Pem diki

Nieuwsbrief november 2024
